{"id":2381,"date":"2021-07-29T16:51:37","date_gmt":"2021-07-29T15:51:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bcta.group\/attma\/?p=2381"},"modified":"2021-07-29T16:54:30","modified_gmt":"2021-07-29T15:54:30","slug":"scottish-building-regulations-consultation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bcta.group\/attma\/2021\/scottish-building-regulations-consultation\/","title":{"rendered":"Scottish Building Regulations Consultation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Scottish Government have released a consultation with proposed changes to Energy Standards and topics such as ventilation, overheating, and electric cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of the consulation is to assess what improvements can be made to the standards set within Scottish Building Regulations. It forms part of the Scottish Government\u2019s plan to become net-zero by 2045.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8230;positive step for the future of Scottish homes and buildings and we generally support the approach Scotland has taken&#8230;<\/p><cite>Barry Cope, Scheme Director of ATTMA<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>What is included in the proposal:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Energy in new buildings<\/li><li>Energy in all buildings<\/li><li>Ventilation<\/li><li>Overheating in new dwellings and other new residential buildings<\/li><li>Improving and Demonstrating Compliance<\/li><li>Electric Vehicle Charing Infrastructure<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcta.group\/attma\">ATTMA <\/a>will be reviewing the proposed changes in detail and creating a response on behalf of the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The key details look positive, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>100% air tightness testing, a move from the 1 in 20 of each plot type<\/li><li>Confirmation of ventilation strategy requirements which have been adopted already in some areas<\/li><li>Mandatory testing at both the shell and core stage for commercial buildings.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Barry Cope, Scheme Director of ATTMA, commented;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe consultation looks to be a positive step for the future of Scottish homes and buildings and we generally support the approach Scotland has taken. The industry is fully aware of the importance of airtight construction and is already achieving the proposed maximum leakage targets comfortably.
