{"id":5732,"date":"2026-03-09T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-03-09T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bcta.group\/attma\/?p=5732"},"modified":"2026-03-09T09:13:21","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T09:13:21","slug":"bcta-and-cleaner-safer-group-announce-formal-merger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bcta.group\/attma\/2026\/bcta-and-cleaner-safer-group-announce-formal-merger\/","title":{"rendered":"BCTA and Cleaner Safer Group announce formal merger\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcta.group\/\">Building Compliance Testers Association<\/a> (BCTA) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cleanersafergroup.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cleaner Safer Group<\/a> (CSG) formally merged\u00a0on 2 March 2026,\u00a0bringing five certification and compliance schemes together under a single governance structure.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CSG is the parent organisation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hetas.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HETAS <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woodsure.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Woodsure <\/a>\u2013 two well-established certification bodies in the solid fuel and biomass sector. HETAS run the UK\u2019s only UKAS-accredited competent person scheme specialising in solid fuel and biomass, and Woodsure is the UK\u2019s only wood fuel quality assurance scheme.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like BCTA, both HETAS and Woodsure are built on rigorous standards, consumer protection, and a genuine commitment to their members \u2013 making this a natural and complementary partnership.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both BCTA and CSG continue as legal entities, and members across all schemes will see no changes to their day-to-day registration or membership. This merger grants BCTA access to CSG&#8217;s established governance, IT systems, and quality infrastructure \u2013 creating a more resilient organisation with more resource to invest in members and quality.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Future of The Building Performance Hub<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the merger, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcta.group\/tbph\/\">The Building Performance Hub<\/a> in High Wycombe will work with HETAS, sharing its experience and knowledge to support HETAS with future training developments. The intention is for the facility to operate as a development centre \u2013 a dedicated environment to research, trial, and refine course content \u2013 representing a significant investment in the expertise and facilities already established within BCTA.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This will allow any developments to be implemented nationwide across the existing network of HETAS Approved Training Centres, ensuring continuous improvement and a commitment to the highest standards. All improvements would be rolled out across the whole network, so candidates receive the same high standard of training no matter where they are learning.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Barry Cope, CEO of Cleaner Safer Group, said: \u201cBCTA is an organisation built on genuine expertise, strong values, and a real commitment to its members.
