External Vacancy & Advertising Policy

This page replicates PUB001 – External Vacancy & Advertising Policy – Issue 1.0 – 02.10.2023

This policy has been developed to provide guidance on the principles and procedures relating to any paid advertising that is carried out via the Building Compliance Testers Association (BCTA) and any of it associated companies. These terms and conditions have been developed and are in place to ensure transparency, fairness, and alignment with the BCTA Group’s goals and values. Regulation of advertising in the UK is the responsibility of the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). The ASA applies the Advertising Codes that can be found at Advertising codes – ASA | CAP. Any requirements listed within this policy should be regarded in addition to those defined by ASA.

Short and Long Term Listings

2. Definition of Service

For the purpose of this policy, advertising is defined as the following: “an agreement between the Building Compliance Testers Association (BCTA) and the advertiser where BCTA receives money for placing an announcement in its digital publications and on its varying associated websites from an organisation or individual for the act or practice of calling industry and public attention to the advertisers’ vacancy, product, service, or to raise awareness of the advertiser themselves for an agreed period of time and in a clearly defined manner”.

3. Eligibility

Prerequisites
Any organisation or individual interested in advertising their vacancy, product, or service through BCTA must be actively engaged within the building performance industry.
Standards for the Approval of Advertisements
Any external advertisement must not conflict with:
i. Relevant ASA Advertising Codes.
ii. The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations Act 2008.
iii. The Equality Act 2010
iv. Additional BCTA Required Standards as defined below
Advertisements will not be accepted if it:
i. Appears to compete or conflict with BCTA Group services.
ii. Associates the BCTA Group with organisations that may cause damage its reputation or industry standing.

4. Screening

Approval Process
All advertisement agreements are managed directly through the BCTA Marketing Department to ensure that the standards for approval are adhered to.
The BCTA Marketing Department will need to see and approve all advertisements before any they are included in any BCTA publication or digital media.
In all cases the BCTA Managing Director retains the right to deny any advertisement in line with Section 3 of this policy
Formatting
All proposed advertisements are required to be formatted as follows:
i. Display Advertisements – Shared Scrolling Banner: 900px x 100px.
ii. Display Advertisements – Home Page Shared Slider: 350 x 350px.
iii.Job Listings – Industry Vacancies Page – Job descriptions will be copied from what is sent through to BCTA.
iv. Job Listings – Industry Vacancies Page – by default no images are included, though you may send your company logo if you wish this to feature.

5. Placement

Job Listings
All job listings are published across the following websites (unless otherwise requested):
i. The Building Performance Hub – The Building Performance Hub | The Building Performance Hub (bcta.group)
ii. The Air Tightness Testing & Measurement Association – ATTMA | ATTMA Homepage (bcta.group)
iii. The Sound Insulation Testing & Measurement Association – SITMA | SITMA Homepage (bcta.group)
All job listing will feature as part of the dedicated ‘Industry Vacancies Page’ page on each of the previously mentioned websites.
All job listing will feature as part of all monthly update and wider communication emails that are sent out throughout the duration of the job listing (amounts may vary).
Display Advertisements
All display advertisements are published across the following websites (unless otherwise requested):
i. The Building Performance Hub – The Building Performance Hub | The Building Performance Hub (bcta.group/tbph)
ii. The Air Tightness Testing & Measurement Association – ATTMA | ATTMA Homepage (bcta.group/attma)
iii. The Sound Insulation Testing & Measurement Association – SITMA | SITMA Homepage (bcta.group/sitma)
All display advertisements are featured as part of a shared rolling advertisement banner that features on the Header of every page on the aforementioned websites as well as featuring on a shared Slider on the Home Page of each website.
Note: Banner advertisements may not feature on some mobile devices.
Exclusive Advertisement
Exclusive advertising options will be considered but are subject to demand.
Any organisation that wishes to discuss options regarding exclusive advertising should contact BCTA.

6. Duration of Advertisement

Job Listings
The minimum duration for job listings is set at 4 weeks, with additional options for extensions, longer term postings and multiple postings defined within Appendix A.
There is no maximum defined period that job listings may be advertised for.
Display Advertising
The minimum duration for display advertising is set at 4 weeks, with additional options for extensions, longer term postings and multiple postings defined within Appendix B.
The maximum defined period that any display advertising may be posted at is capped at 24 weeks (not including extension).

7. Financial

Fees
All associated advertising fees are defined within Appendices A & B (available on request)
BCTA, ATTMA (inc. ANZ & DVCCS), and SITMA members who can benefit from a 20% discount on the listed fees.
Fees will increase in-line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) as shown on ONS.gov.uk (12-month rate as of December of the Previous year).
Payment
Payment terms, including payment methods and invoicing details, will be communicated to the advertising company separately of this document.
Payment is required before the advertisement/job posting is displayed on the website. BCTA Members who pay by Direct Debit will clear this step automatically.
Late payments may result in the delayed posting of the advertisements or cancellation of a current posting.

8. Cancellations

Display Advertising
The advertiser may cancel a display advertisement if notice in writing is received by BCTA.
The minimum notice period for cancellation by the advertiser is 30 days unless agreed otherwise.
If you so wish to remove your advertisement during the duration you have paid for, no refund shall be given.
Job Listings
The advertiser may cancel a listing if notice in writing is received by BCTA.
The minimum notice period for cancellation by the advertiser is 14 days unless agreed otherwise.
If you so wish to remove your advertisement during the duration you have paid for, no refund shall be given.

9. Liability & Disclaimer

Liability
The Building Compliance Testers Association (BCTA) does not guarantee the accuracy, reliability, or suitability of the job listings posted on its website.
The advertising organisation or individual remains solely responsible for the content and accuracy of their job listings, as well as any subsequent communications or actions related to the advertised positions.
