HETAS Approved Training Centre

The Building Performance Hub becomes latest HETAS Approved Training Centre

The Building Performance Hub (TBPH) is pleased to announce that it has become the latest HETAS Approved Training Centre, joining a nationwide network of industry-leading venues delivering high-quality training in solid fuel and biomass.

Further certification in the built environment

The High Wycombe facility joins a nationwide network of HETAS Approved Training Centres, making it easier than ever for new candidates to access industry-leading training and for existing registrants to refresh, renew, and upskill.

The approval follows the recent merger between BCTA Group and Cleaner Safer Group (CSG) – the parent organisation of HETAS and Woodsure – bringing together expertise from across the built environment under one roof. TBPH is proud to add another well-equipped, easily accessible venue to the list of places across the country where both candidates and existing registrants can access HETAS training.

This approval follows the recent changes to HETAS training, where the new core and module pathway helps learners. This replaces the previous course structure with a clearer framework built around Core Knowledge and specialist modules, making it easier than ever to get the competencies and knowledge candidates need.

TBPH will deliver training under this new structure from the outset, giving candidates a clear route through the qualifications relevant to their role.

Range of HETAS courses available

TBPH’s course offerings cover almost all available HETAS courses, including Core Knowledge alongside specialist modules needed for installer, servicing, and sweeping roles. Chimneys and Flues, Sweeping, Servicing, Dry Appliance Installer, Pellet Appliance Installer, and the Combined Sweep and Servicing courses will be run at The Building Performance Hub.

Whether you’re new to the industry working towards your first registration, or an existing registrant looking to refresh or add a new module, the team at TBPH can help you find the right pathway.

A development centre for the wider network

Alongside delivering training, TBPH will take on a distinctive role as a development centre – a dedicated environment to research, trial, and refine course content before improvements are rolled out across the whole HETAS Approved Training Centre network.

Candidates will continue to receive the same high standard of training wherever they choose to learn, with TBPH’s work feeding into continuous improvement across every centre.

The facility brings with it established expertise in building performance, drawing on the knowledge built up through BCTA’s work in air tightness, sound insulation, and ventilation commissioning – areas that increasingly intersect with the installation and servicing of solid fuel and biomass appliances.

Ben Harvey, HETAS Training and Development Manager, commented on the new approval:

“It’s great to welcome The Building Performance Hub to our network of Approved Training Centres. The facility in High Wycombe is perfect to support both learners – whether new to the industry or undergoing refresher training – and the ongoing development of HETAS training.

“We’re looking forward to developing our course content as we continue to raise standards across the industry.”

Barry Cope, Cleaner Safer Group CEO, celebrated TBPH’s approval:

“It’s fantastic to see The Building Performance Hub join the network of HETAS Approved Training Centre. This is a real milestone and a further step forward in promoting the cleanest, safest, and most sustainable practices in solid fuel and biomass installation.

“TBPH has been assessed against the same rigorous standards that apply to all HETAS Approved Training Centres, ensuring consistency and quality across the board. This allows training candidates to get the high-quality training they expect from HETAS, no matter their location.”
