For SITMA Certified Members, maintaining the precision and reliability of your sound insulation testing equipment is part of the SITMA’s Scope of Certification and is detailed on their website and in the document PUS007. The Building Performance Hub offers comprehensive equipment checks to ensure your speakers and tapping machines meet the minimum requirements.

Speaker Directivity Check

  • Purpose: To ensure that speakers used in sound insulation testing, accurately and consistently direct sound waves in all directions.
  • Details: This test verifies that the directional radiation of the loudspeaker has been tested according to the procedure for directivity specified by the international standard.
  • Benefit: To ensure the accuracy of your sound insulation testing by ensuring your speaker produces a flat directivity index in all directions..

Speaker Stability Check

  • Purpose: To check the consistency of your speakers’ sound output.
  • Details: This testing is crucial to maintain the integrity of your sound insulation testing, ensuring that results are reliable and reproducible over time.
  • Benefit: To guarantee reliable and reproducible results with consistent speaker performance.

Tapper Machine One-Off Checks

  • Purpose: To conduct checks of your tapping machines as per the standards set in, Annex A of BS EN ISO 140-7:1998.
  • Details: This ensures that the impact sound insulation tests are conducted with equipment that meets the criteria for accuracy and performance.
  • Benefit: To ensure your tapping machine complies with international standards for accurate and precise impact sound insulation testing.

Fees

  • Cost: £150+VAT per check
  • Booking Fee: The booking fee is for one check, plus any additional checks will be invoiced once they have taken place.
  • Costing Example: Tapper Machine and Directivity Check – Total £300+VAT , £150+VAT to be paid via website, £150+VAT to be invoiced after the date of booking.

Note: It is noted that SITMA Certified Members are under no obligation to use The Building Performance Hub to comply with the requirements of PUS007. All testing can be conducted externally and can also be done using calibration laboratories.

The Building Performance Hub does not guarantee performance in any way and will provide single page reports for each test as evidence and shall be supplied by email.

It is noted that cabinet loudspeakers may not speaker directivity requirements and therefore you are advised to contact The Building Performance Hub before bringing your cabinet loudspeaker.

A SITMA examiner will always be present to ensure that the measurements are being taken fairly and consistently, in line with its own accreditation requirements.

In accordance with SITMA’s PUS007 – Equipment and Calibration Requirements, every 2 years SITMA Certified Members are required to check their equipment.

Across the year, The Building Performance Hub offers all 3 services in a single day, including same day reporting.
