11:30am MVHR vs Air Conditioning
Ian Palmer from Airflow Developments Ltd will cover the issues when using AC cassette units alone without adequate ventilation and the problems MVHR solves with regards to buildings and the health benefits to the occupants.
12:00pmIt’s Only Air, Right?
Nathan Wood from Farmwood Mechanical, will be highlighting the years of legacy issues, lack of knowledge and the industries attempts to improve the situation. A honest presentation through the eyes of a ventilation specialist.
12:30pmCompetence Based Confidence
Bill Coltzer, from the North American BCTA (NABCTA) and president of Zero/Six Consulting will be speaking about energy conservation constraints coupled with air quality concerns have compelled the construction industry to deliver higher performing buildings.

Concept Smoke Systems have been providing smoke systems for air tightness for a number of years. Their smoke machines allow air testers to identify leaks in the building using non toxic smoke. These can be bought directly from BCTA, head to The Hub’s website for more information. Find Concept at Stand H by the ventilation suite

NTi Audio manufacture test and measurement solutions for acoustics, audio and vibration application. Their sound level meters are also being used in the SITMA Certification Scheme by many companies. NTi Audio can be found in-between the sound suite and ventilation suite, at Stand I.

The Importance of Environmental Readings
The environmental readings taken on a test are the barometric pressure, external temperature and the internal temperature or the average internal temperature from several readings in taller buildings. All of these readings are taken before the test and then they are taken again at the end of the test.

SITMA UPDATES

The 6db Frequency Measurement Check
BS EN ISO 140-4:1998 states when conducting sound insulation tests, the generated noise should have a steady & continuous sound spectrum in the 3rd octave bands in the 100Hz through to 3.15kHz frequency bands. The standard states that there should be no more than a 6-decibel difference in parallel frequencies in the source room.
