Yes, you read that correctly! The Building Performance Hub has teamed up with Buckinghamshire College Group and the Bucks Skills Hub to offer Air Tightness Level 1 and Ventilation Commissioning training to any candidate living in Buckinghamshire. The candidate will also gain additional construction based skills and will be able to apply and receive a CSCS card.
The Building Performance Hub is able to offer this through the Skills Bootcamp process.
The Skills Bootcamp is a 70-hour guided learning programme delivered through a mix of face-to-face sessions in practical learning spaces and online modules. It includes a core element of technical content, detailed below, along with a focus on health and safety, employability, and professional skills.
Participants will have the opportunity to obtain a Health and Safety qualification from NOCN, and prepare for the CITB Operatives Level Health, Safety, and Environment Test. The Skills Bootcamp also offers employability support, including CV writing, job search strategies, interview preparation, and training on using social media to build professional social capital.
The Energy Assessment Skills Bootcamp will cover testing buildings for energy efficiency through air tightness testing and checking ventilation is installed and working correctly to ensure compliance with legal requirements. This training will be held at The Building Performance Hub in High Wycombe.
Training will include:
- Air Tightness Testing training including a live blower door test as a building regulatory requirement.
- Ventilation Commissioning training, how to measure flow rates and why ventilation is so important in modern buildings.
- Construction sustainability and building our buildings for longevity is important and why low energy buildings are important in the context of energy security.
Cost
For anyone unemployed, the cost of the training is completely free.
For those already employed, but looking to upskill, the cost is £500, paid by the employer.
Timing
The funding expires in March 2025, candidates have until 31 January 2025 to apply.

Candidates must be 19 years or over. They must be living in the county of Buckinghamshire at the time of application and training.
