10 Years of ATTMA Lodgement

Celebrating 10 Years of Lodgement: A Decade of Progress and Precision

1st September 2025 marks a significant milestone for the Air Tightness Testing & Measurement Association (ATTMA): ten years since the launch of its lodgement portal. Introduced on 1st September 2015, the portal was a transformative step in bringing structure, consistency, and traceability to airtightness testing across the UK

In its early days, the portal faced challenges with limited data capture and slow industry adoption. Yet, it laid the foundation for a centralised compliance framework that has since become a benchmark for Building Regulations. The lodgement system enabled testers to submit results in a standardised format, improving data quality and supporting regulatory oversight.

Key Milestones Over the Decade

2017ATTMA expanded its reach internationally, laying the groundwork for operations in Australia and New Zealand. By 2020, the region had its own Scheme Director, Sean Maxwell, and by 2024, ATTMA ANZ was actively contributing to building code reforms and national airtightness studies
2018Just three years in, the portal celebrated 500,000 lodged tests, reflecting growing credibility and widespread adoption. ATTMA responded to technical challenges by introducing flexible upload options and improved validation processes
2020During the COVID-19 lockdown, ATTMA adapted quickly to support remote operations. Certificate validity was extended, technical guidance was offered, and digital tools ensured continuity despite restricted site access
2021ATTMA reached 1 million total lodgements including passes, fails and ATTMA hit 1 million lodgements in 2021, including passes, fails and retests—marking a major milestone in data consistency and airtightness testing across the UK.
2021The ATTMA App was officially launched on Apple and Google Play. Since its release, the app has grown in popularity, with over 22% of all tests lodged via the App. In 2022, the Windows version as released, expanding accessibility for testers working across different platforms.
2024Over 100 professionals from across the industry attended ATTMA’s “The Future of Airtightness” Event. It opened with a clear message that airtightness is evolving rapidly and the key themes were energy efficiency gains, changing standards and rethinking testing practices including technology being part of the solution.
2025ATTMA’s global footprint continues to grow, underscored by its presence at the ABAA Conference in Denver. The event provided a platform to showcase the ATTMA lodgement system and its contribution to advancing regulatory consistency—reinforcing the UK’s position as a world leader in airtightness testing.
