If you’re using FanTestic for airtightness testing, it’s time to upgrade to Retrotec FanTestic v5.16.31.94, which brings critical fixes, improved accuracy, and usability enhancements. Whether you’re testing under ATTMA, EN13829, or other standards, this update ensures better performance and reliability, especially if your testing took place between late 2024 and early 2025.
Important Notice for Tests Between Oct 28, 2024 – Jan 30, 2025
Retrotec strongly recommends recalculating any FanTestic tests performed between October 28, 2024, and January 30, 2025, if you were using versions 5.16.21.61 to 5.16.25.82. These versions contained a baseline pressure compensation bug that could impact test results—particularly when large baseline pressures were recorded. The larger the baseline, the more significant the error. Updating and recalculating ensures your results meet compliance and accuracy standards.
Fan Accuracy Improvements
FanTestic 5.16.25.81 also introduced updated default factory flow equations for several fans, including the 5000 and 6000 series. These refinements boost accuracy even further, with Retrotec fans now measuring within 5% of system flow. The updated equations may result in minor differences in results compared to earlier versions, but only affect tests without manually entered serial numbers and calibration dates. If you’re setting these properly, your historical data will remain consistent.
What’s New in Retrotec FanTestic V5.16.31.94
This update includes key feature additions, usability enhancements, and bug fixes:
- New Input Support: You can now enter floor area in ATTMA tests, making it easier to meet data requirements.
- Clarity in Test Results: When the room and static pressures are equal, the software now correctly shows a “0” for induced pressure.
- Better Gauge Detection: A more intuitive message now appears when no gauges are discovered during gauge detection.
- Improved Range Warnings: You’ll now see a warning when selecting range 2 or 1 on a Model 350 or 450 fan—helping avoid incorrect configurations.
Critical Bug Fixes
- Old File Compatibility: Older test files with outdated or improperly initialized fan pressure lines will now reopen correctly. This fix addresses problems where pressure lines appeared set to ‘Open’ regardless of the original setting.
- Bias Range Fix for EN13829: Minimum and maximum bias values are now validated correctly (previously missed in some standards like Belgium’s).
- Energy Report Template Correction: Wind variability is now correctly labeled as Wind (Beaufort), and formatting issues caused by stray spaces are resolved.
- Localisation Fixes: Decimal separators in calibration tables now follow the selected language settings, avoiding confusion in non-English locales.
- Calibration Tables and 7000 Fans: Reports now correctly identify D1 as the active configuration for 7000 fans, preventing mix-ups with B1.
- Performance Boost: Report generation speed has been improved, especially for complex or detailed tests.
Lodgement Enhancements and Fixes
- Clean Report Output: Lodgement tags are now removed from Word reports when no lodgement information is present.
- Stable Organization Handling: Switching lodgement organizations now retains your selected test standard and prevents unwanted reversion to ‘None’.
- Thermometer and Barometer IDs: These are now properly saved and retrieved across ATTMA including default values for new files.
- Accurate Design Air Permeability: This value is now included in reports whenever a lodgement XML element is present, based on the correct organization.
- More Robust Lodgement Handling: Reports now include the correct lodgement ID, thermometer/barometer IDs, and design permeability. The software also better handles network errors during lodgement of incomplete tests.
License and First-Time User Experience
To make first-time installs and expired licenses less disruptive, FanTestic will now generate a Lite License automatically if there’s an issue, letting you get started without delays.
