Level 2 – Multi-fan

Level 2 Training

There are 3 routes of entry to becoming a level 2 tester:

1 – NVQ or other recognised qualification route – The candidate must provide evidence of a education which includes air tightness testing and will need to follow the process as per the APEL route.

2 – Training and assessment – The candidate must attend an ATTMA recognised training course and complete the assessment in order to be enrolled into ATTMA. (If you have already done this, please click here to register). The course typically lasts 4 or 5 days with the assessment taking place on the final day.

Level 2, companies will need to show that they have the ability to not only carry out the testing, but calculate complex envelope area calculations. The Level 2 training course is broken into three sections, Envelope Areas, Theory and Practical. For companies to be able to carry out Level 2 testing, they must pass assessments of all 3. The envelope area module may be taken by somebody other than the test engineer. The Practical and Theory must be taken by the same test engineer.

The current authorised training providers are:

STROMA – Based in Castleford

Please note that ATTMA are not aware of the prices of the courses, these are set by the training providers.

3 – APEL (Accreditation Prior Experiential Learning) – The candidate must provide evidence by way of existing test reports, completion of the relevant alternative training template (which will demonstrate you have met the requirements of the National Occupational Standards for air tightness) and must attend a combined interview and witness test to prove your competence. You may be expected to submit further test reports or have sanctions added depending on the outcome of the assessment.
