Increase in New Homes Delivered in 2019-2020

The MHCLG announced that the highest number of homes delivered in 33 years in the past year – this is the 7th year in a row that the number of homes delivered has increased with a record of 243,770 homes delivered between 2019-2020. This is 1% up on 2018-2019

An additional 2,130 communal dwellings were added to housing stock, which included 1,700 student accommodation units.

Since 2010, 1.8 million homes have been delivered across England, with the help of the Governments investment including £3.9 billion allocated through the Housing Infrastructure Fund and £9 billion in the Shared Ownership and Affordable Homes programme including the Help to Buy scheme which has helped provide confidence in the sector.

Throughout the pandemic, the government has been working with the industry to support home building throughout and in June, the Housing Secretary announced extension to planning permissions to ensure work temporarily disrupted by Covid restrictions.

ATTMA have seen a tough year in the stats of air leakage testing but with strong figures starting in September 2020 which have continued into October and November.
